Grand Chase Philippines

On September 17, 2008, Level Up! announced its partnership with KOG Studios to bring a local version of Grand Chase to the Philippines.1 The game began open beta on November 4 and will end on November 17, 2008.2 A crossover event with Ragnarok Online was held on November 14, 2008 to promote the game amongst Ragnarok players.3 The game was released commercially on November 18, 2008.

Gameplay

All battles are held in a 2-dimensional side-scrolling interface and uses the keyboard to control the character. Each character class has different styles in combat, though it still revolves around maximizing damage to the enemies.

Quests

Quests are obtained by players automatically through leveling, or through the use of scrolls found throughout dungeon runs. Most of the quest involves clearing an entire dungeon, killing an enemy boss, and gathering specific loots from enemies. Some quests are based on PvP combat, and requires players to perform specific tasks such as defeating an enemy player or joining a number of PvP combat.

Dungeon Runs

The majority of the game lies in dungeon runs, where players are put in an instanced dungeon and can party up to four characters. The game's story also progresses in the dungeon runs.

Dungeons are divided into rooms, and players can only progress once all the enemies in the current room are cleared. The objective of the dungeon is to kill the boss of the level. Loots are obtained from the monsters of the dungeon, and many quests in the game are focused in dungeon runs. Attaining higher levels give the players access to harder dungeons.

PvP Combat

PvP combat has two modes: Survival and Team Battle.

Survival battles are standard deathmatch types where the sole survivor will emerge victorious. Team Battle allows the player to party with other players in a team deathmatch type.

Leveling and Money

Players can level a single character at a time, though they can switch to another character any time prior to PvP and dungeon runs. Finishing dungeons and participating in PvP combat gives the players exp and money, as well as other items that could be sold.

Partying in dungeon runs increases experience gained, hence it is encouraged to establish a full party before engaging in the dungeons. In PvP, the experience and money gained depends on the performance of the player.

Upon leveling, the player can have access to higher-tier equipment as well as having a preset increase of statistics, depending on the character class.
